What’s the deal with all this New Media stuff, anyway?

I have heard every sort of question regarding new media and every objection to using it. But, there is one reason that you have to take a serious look at using it to market yourself and your business:

It is where the people are.

Like real estate, it’s all about location, location, location and right now, those eyeballs are on computer screens and mobile phones. If you are scratching your head and wondering where the heck to even start with this, then this site and our company are for you. For my friends who might be checking this out and know all about these things, I am working on a blog for us, but dabuzz media is about reaching those business people that wanting to find out about this brave new world, but don’t know where to start.

With that being said, I will use two terms when referring to online media. The first is new media. When I use this term, I am talking about websites, online advertising and other tools to market you and your business. I use this term because it is, in fact, new and not radio, television or print. I also use this term because it is not just the Internet. It can be mobile phones or other interactive media, like kiosks.

Second, I will use the term social media. This refers to websites and mobile applications that allow you to interact and network with other people. While you might not have signed up for them or participated, you have probably heard about Facebook or MySpace. You might believe that you don’t have a need for these sites or they are too time consuming. But, if you are in business or you want to market your services to those around you and people you might not have seen in some time, you will definitely want to find out more. Plus, these are not the only fish in the sea. There are many, many sites like this with demographics or ideas that suit your business better. I will try to cover them all.

So we have established who this site and company are for: people who have yet to get involved in this new fangled technology stuff. Now we embark on the next leg of our journey that I affectionately like to call “Everything you wanted to know about New Media* – *but were too afraid to ask!” My apologies to Woody Allen, but I think it sums it up well. I hope that you will want to find out more.

You can subscribe to this blog via email if you would like. The form is up at the top. As we move forward, I will be explain many of these applications and technologies the best I can to suit your needs. Please, if you have any questions, please use the contact page to get in touch with me by email or phone and I will do my best to help you out. Congratulations on taking the next step to effective and affordable marketing.
